CURRENT COMMUNITY NEWS/CALENDAR/EVENTS

  • Recreation Department will be closed from April 21-28. The Recreation Department will be closed an additional day – Monday, April 29 – due to the gym floor refinishing. That means pickleball and basketball are cancelled on the April 29th.
  • Rail Trail Rides with Tyler Durham are back in 2024! Starting Wednesdays beginning May 1.Experience pedaling adventures beyond the Rt. 49 frontier. Rail Trail Rides and, NEW this year, mixed surface rides, will depart from the Recreation Department on Ride locations will change weekly. Class 1 Ebikes accepted. Bikes will be trailered while riders enjoy transportation to and from via the WVRD bus. Plan to meet promptly at WVRD at 8:30 a.m. for loading and check-in. Space is limited and these trips do fill up, so early registration is highly recommended at wvrd.recdesk.com. The cost is $30 per person ($20 per WVRD member).
  • Waterville Valley Feis. There will be an Irish Step Dance competition in Waterville Valley on Saturday, May 4. The organizers are expecting 200 competitors accompanied by one or two parents. The competition will be held in the Ice Arena. You can learn more online at www.sullivanirishdance.com

  • Waterville Valley Academy – Student Art Show. The WVA Students had their annual Art Show on March 28. Every year the students pick an endangered species and do art works around that in order to raise money for their protection. This year they chose Orangutans. The proceeds will go to raise money for “The Orangutans Project”  Some art went unsold. Copy/paste the link below to your browser to see the student’s work that is available.   • Golden Antler Adventure Hunt.  The hunt is still on! Spread the word to guests, residents, owners, and visitors that this fun family-friendly activity will continue through the summer and fall. Ten golden moose antlers are hidden in different locations around Waterville Valley.  Find the clues at the lodges, Town Square businesses and online at bit.ly/Golden-Antler.Participants must find all 10 locations, take photos in front of each location, then go to the Waterville Valley Recreation Department during regular business hours to redeem a prize (a very cool limited-edition keychain). To redeem the prize, participants must show photos in front of each location. Get all the details online at visitwatervillevalley.com/adventure-hunt or scan the QR code in the Resort Insider. 

  • Community Clean Up. Friday, May 10. Volunteers, plan on meeting at the Recreation Department at 10am to pick up trash bags and assigned route. Bring your own gloves if possible (disposable gloves will be available). Place full bags on the nearest sidewalk for the Town’s DPW to pick-up. At 11:30 a.m., WVRD will provide hearty snacks (from La Hacienda Mexicana) and a thank you gift (courtesy of Roper Real Estate) to all participants.

  • Wilderness First Aid Course - Saturday and Sunday, May 18 & 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is now open for a Wilderness First Aid Course. The course is taught by SOLO Wilderness Medicine instructors, the golf standard for backcountry emergency care training. WFA is for the outdoor enthusiast or trip leader who wants a basic level of first aid training for short outings with family, friends and outdoor groups. $245 ($225 for Recreation Department  members).   • Spring Book Sale - Saturday, May 25, from 12-3 p.m.  Osceola Library is now accepting donations of hardcover and paperback books for the spring sale which will be held on on the library grounds. In case of rain, the sale will be held inside at the Waterville Valley Elementary School. Drop-off donations at the library during open hours, 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, or email wvlibrary@watervillevalleynh.gov for other arrangements.

  • Mountain Clean Up & Pig Roast.  Monday, May 27, 10am-2pm – Memorial Day weekend. Please join us on Mt. Tecumseh as we pick up and clean up rubbish and debris that has accumulated over the winter. Afterwards, your efforts will be rewarded with a pig roast with all the fixings.   

  • Kindergarten Registration Open! Waterville Valley Elementary School kindergarten reg is now open for the 2024-2025 school year. If your child will be five years old by Sept. 30, 2024, contact Sarah Sidor at 603-236-4700 or email ssidor@pemibaker.org. WVES accepts out of district tuition students.

  • WV Recreation Dept. Summer day camp registration opens to Waterville Valley residents and taxpayers on March 14 and to the general public on March 18. Only online registration is being offered through April 1, so create an account on wvrd.recdesk.com at least one week prior to camp reg opening. Camp opens on June 24th.

  • My First Nature Camp at the Rey Center Registration is open for registrations. Camp will held midweek from July 1-August 2, 9am-1pm (no camp on July 4). The cost is $200 per week. Email leah@thereycenter.org for details.

  • Transfer Station Hours Transfer Station regular hours are the following:
    • Sunday - 9:00am to 5:00pm
    • Tuesday - 8:00am to 6:00pm
    • Thursday - 7:30am to 3:00pm
    • Closed Friday & Saturday 
    • PLEASE NOTE Snowstorms and other emergencies may cause these regular times to change with little or no notice. During Holidays and Vacation weeks, these regular times will be adjusted to provide better access to the Transfer Station.  Please see the Town Calendar and our social media platforms such as Facebook for specific dates and times that the station is open. Additionally, the gate to access the brush pile  IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  If you have questions regarding materials that can be left on the brush pile and yard waste pile, please contact Megan Boobar and the DPW Staff at 603-348-8699.
  • Transfer Station Decals.  Two complimentary decals were sent to every Property owner in the fall of 2023. If necessary, you can purchase an additional, third sticker for $10 at Town Hall. If you did not receive a second free sticker, please visit Town Hall and they will issue the sticker at no cost. New property owners will need to come to the town hall to obtain decals. Call 603-348-8699 with any questions.  
  • Multi-Purpose Lane.  Pedestrians using the new multi-purpose lanes throughout Waterville Valley should walk with and against traffic as if they were on a sidewalk. The intent of the multi-purpose lane is for use by pedestrians, inexperienced bicyclists, and children. Experienced bicyclists and anyone over the age of 16 riding a bicycle should continue to follow the rules of the road. OTHER COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Coyote Grill will be closed for maintenance from April 22 through May 1, reopening on Thursday, May 2.  

  • La Hacienda is closed through May 2, reopening on Friday, May 3.

  • Olde Waterville Pizza Company is closed through May 15, reopening on Thursday, May 16

  • Catch the Church Chair on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. The non-denominational service is open to all. 

  • Community Power on Facebook.  The Community Power Plan for Waterville Valley has been approved by the Public Utilities Commission. Stay in the know via Facebook @WVCommunityElectricPower.  You can find the latest information by visiting their website at https://bit.ly/Waterville-Community-Power.  
  • Osceola Library hours updates – Open Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays 3pm-5pm   Direct questions to Cheryl at 508-517-2905.
  • Depot Camp/Livermore Parking.  The popularity of the North End trail access means that Livermore parking lot can fill up quickly on weekends and holidays. If the lot is full, park at Snows Mountain (adjacent to Waterville Valley Academy) and walk to the Connector or catch the shuttle bus from Town Square.
